 piRNA ping-pong amplification

Reciprocal guide-directed cleavage produces new piRNA ends from complementary precursor or target RNAs. A 10-nucleotide overlap of opposite-strand 5′ ends supports this mechanism but does not prove amplification in every piRNA pathway.
