 Position measurement

An ideal position measurement of a normalized wavefunction $\psi$ assigns a probability to each spatial region $A$ through the Born rule: $P(A)={\int }_A|\psi (x){|}^{2}dx$. This specifies outcome statistics; it does not by itself specify the post-measurement state. A physical detector has finite spatial resolution, which must be included in its measurement model.
