 Quotient of functions

For functions $f$ and $g$ taking values in the same field, their quotient of functions is defined by $(f/g)(x)=f(x)/g(x)$ on the common domain of a function restricted to points where $g(x)\ne 0$. Thus $f(x)=1$ and $g(x)=x$ on the real line give a quotient of functions defined only for $x\ne 0$.
