 Vinylmagnesium halide

A grignard reagent in which magnesium is attached directly to an alkenyl carbon, $\mathrm{RCH}=\mathrm{CHMgX}$. Addition to a carbonyl compound can form an allylic alcohol while retaining the geometry of the pre-existing alkene.
