For droplet number density N and radius distribution n(r), let rv3=N−1∫r3n(r)dr and rs2=N−1∫r2n(r)dr. The effective radius is re=rv3/rs2. With liquid-water content w=cwh, rv=[3cwh/(4πρwN)]1/3. The shape factor k=rv3/re3 gives rs2=k1/3rv2; these are distribution moments, not a monodisperse assumption.
