An adsorption blob is a subchain of size comparable to the adsorbed layer thickness ξ. If the free-chain size law is R∼bgν, it contains g∼(ξ/b)1/ν monomers. Confinement costs of order kBT per blob produce Fconf∼NkBT/g. A simple contact fraction b/ξ gives F/(NkBT)∼(b/ξ)1/ν−ϵb/ξ. This model predicts ξ/b∼ϵ−ν/(1−ν) and binding gain per monomer of order kBTϵ1/(1−ν). It assumes a many-blob layer and a monomer-scale attraction range; it does not replace the full surface-critical theory of polymer adsorption.
