The antenna temperature expresses the noise power delivered by a receiving antenna as an equivalent input noise temperature. It depends on the sky and surroundings weighted by the antenna beam pattern, as well as losses in the antenna; it need not be the physical temperature of either the antenna or a single astronomical source.
