The power series Log(1−w)=−∑j≥1wj/j proves this estimate. There is no global bound ∣Log(1−w)∣≤C∣w∣, since the logarithm diverges as w→1. The different estimate log∣1−w∣≤log(1+∣w∣)≤∣w∣ is valid wherever w=1, and is sufficient for growth bounds on canonical products.
