If a time-dependent vector field satisfies α˙t​+LYt​​αt​=ht​αt​, its flow maps satisfy ρt∗​αt​=ut​α0​, where ut​(x)=exp(∫0t​hs​(ρs​(x))ds). Thus the conformal factor is smooth and positive even when ht​ changes sign.
