A crystal dendrite is a branched crystal-growth morphology. Diffusive access to undercooling or supersaturation favours protruding tips, while interfacial capillarity regularizes fine scales and crystal interface anisotropy selects directions. Dendritic growth of a snowflake is a vapour-growth example.
