The observatory's description of its LISE optical workshop names Vernet as its head and documents fabrication for the C2PU one-metre telescopes. Photographs show polishing and inspection of the primary mirrors. This work connects optical instruments to the practical task of making accurately shaped reflecting surfaces: a reflecting telescope depends on the surface figure as well as the mirror diameter.
