Dependent set of a matroid ($D\notin \mathcal{I}$)

A matroid dependent set is a subset of the ground set that is not a matroid independent set. By heredity, every subset containing a matroid dependent set is also dependent. Distinct nonloops are parallel elements of a matroid exactly when their pair is a matroid dependent set.
