An interaction −λjμ∂μϕ with an exactly conserved current is redundant: integration by parts gives λϕ∂μjμ up to a boundary term. For the Dirac current, the local phase redefinition ψ=e−iλϕχ removes the coupling, so its on-shell scattering amplitudes vanish.
