For the Fourier transform convention f(ξ)=∫f(x)e−2πiξxdx, integration gives 1[0,1](ξ)=(1−e−2πiξ)/(2πiξ), with value one at zero. The convolution theorem makes the transform of the m-fold convolution its mth power. This is a simple way to construct compactly supported functions with prescribed polynomial Fourier decay.
