For a monad (T,η,μ), the free algebra functor F:C→CT sends X to (TX,μX​) and f to Tf. It is a left adjoint to the forgetful functor U, via h↦hηX​ and u↦γTu between CT(FX,(C,γ)) and C(X,C).
