The Fourier-space quadratic Maxwell kernel after adding −(∂μAμ)2/(2ξ). For nonzero ξ and non-null four-momentum, its transverse and longitudinal momentum projectors give K=−k2(PT+ξ−1PL) and its inverse is −(PT+ξPL)/k2. The inversion of the gauge-fixed Maxwell kinetic operator supplies the photon propagator with its vacuum boundary prescription.
