For Dμ=∂μ−igAμ, transformations δAμ=−∂μθ, δϕ=−igθϕ, and Cartesian shift ϕ=(v+h+ib)/2, the gauge function G=∂⋅A−ξgvb varies by [−□+ξg2v(v+h)]θ. Exponentiating the Faddeev-Popov determinant with the convention −cˉ(δG/δθ)c gives ghost mass squared ξg2v2 and one Higgs-ghost vertex −iξg2v. A scalar-dependent Abelian gauge therefore has interacting ghosts; a pure linear Lorenz gauge has a field-independent determinant.
