The ground-state turning points are ±ℏ/(mω). In dimensionless position y=xmω/ℏ, the probability outside them is (2/π)∫1∞e−y2dy=erfc(1)≃0.15730. This tail demonstrates that a bound quantum state need not be confined to its classically allowed region.
