Hydroalumination adds an Al–H equivalent across an unsaturated bond. Syn and directed trans pathways give different alkenyl-aluminium geometries; protonolysis can preserve that stereochemical information.
Oxygen-directed anti addition of aluminium and hydrogen across an alkyne, giving a stereodefined vinylaluminium species.
