For u′=F(x,u), a point-symmetry generator V=ξ∂x​+η∂u​ must satisfy
ηx​+(ηu​−ξx​−Fξu​)F−ξFx​−ηFu​=0.

It follows by applying the first prolongation to u′−F=0 and restricting to its solution manifold.
