Link isotopy

A link isotopy is an isotopy of the ambient three-sphere carrying one link to another. It preserves the number and individual knot types of the components.

Here ambient isotopy is applied to the embedded link inside the three-sphere.

Apply an orientation-reversing homeomorphism of $S^3$ to a link and transport its component orientations. Reflection through the projection plane produces a link diagram by switching every crossing.
