If A=ta​×tb​dadb and each tangent satisfies Dt/Dt=(∇u)t, differentiation of the cross product gives DA/Dt=(∇⋅u)A−(∇u)TA. Combining this with ideal induction proves pointwise conservation of B⋅A.
