An isospin-zero quark h paired with u or d gives a meson isospin doublet of charges qh−2/3,qh+1/3. Spin addition at zero orbital angular momentum gives both pseudoscalar mesons and vector mesons. Pairing the new antiquark with u,d gives the charge-conjugate doublets. For strange or charm flavour these are the kaon or D-meson families and their vector partners.
