If η2=−s2<0, δ(0)>0 and δ˙(0)≥0, the integrating factor identity (e2μtδ˙)′=s2e−μtδ proves that δ stays positive and increases. Its finite limit satisfies δ∞=δ(0)+δ˙(0)/(2μ)+s2∫0∞e−3μtδ(t)dt/(2μ)>δ(0). The initial sign condition is essential: the positive decaying modified Bessel function mode has limit zero.
