Every metric space is normal. For disjoint closed sets A,B, the function
x⟼d(x,A)+d(x,B)d(x,A)
(1)
is continuous, equals zero on A, and equals one on B; inverse images of disjoint neighbourhoods of zero and one separate the sets.
