Operator ideal of weakly compact operators ($\mathcal{W}(X,Y)$)

Weakly compact operators form a norm-closed vector subspace of $\mathcal{B}(X,Y)$ and have the ideal property: bounded compositions on either side of a weakly compact operator remain weakly compact.
