A trapped-charge dating method estimating time since suitable mineral grains last received sufficient light exposure. Luminescence measurements and environmental dose rate constrain burial age; incomplete bleaching and mixing can bias it. The measured clock is accumulated trapped charge rather than direct decay of a parent isotope.[ref]
Luminescence dating laboratory by United States Geological Survey. The laboratory describes stored dose, sunlight resetting and age as equivalent dose divided by dose rate.
