Parametric plane curve

A parametric curve in the plane, given by two coordinate functions $x(t),y(t)$. Its speed is $\sqrt{x^{\prime }(t{)}^2+y^{\prime }(t{)}^2}$ wherever these derivatives exist, giving its arc length by integration.
