For the Hadamard basis, ∣±⟩=(∣0⟩±∣1⟩)/2. The Born rule gives
Pr(±)=∣⟨±∣ϕ⟩∣2=2123±41+i32.
(1)
Writing the two computational basis amplitudes as a,b, normalization gives Pr(±)=21±Re(a∗b), and Re(a∗b)=3/8. Hence
Pr(+)=84+3,Pr(−)=84−3.
(2)
These probabilities sum to one. The cross term is interference between probability amplitudes, so the probabilities cannot be obtained by treating the input as an incoherent mixture of the computational basis alternatives.
