Intersect a connected component U of ρA(x) with the clopen subset ρB(x). Connectedness makes the intersection either empty or all of U. In the empty case U⊆σB(x). In the other case U⊆ρB(x); a connected set in ρB(x) containing U is also connected in ρA(x), so maximality prevents it from being larger. Thus U is a component of ρB(x), or U⊆σB(x).
