Take xn=2πn and yn=2πn+1/n. Then ∣yn−xn∣=1/n→0, while
f(xn)=0,f(yn)=(2πn+n1)sinn1⟶2π.
(1)
The sequential criterion for uniform continuity would force f(yn)−f(xn)→0. These pairs contradict it: for example, for all sufficiently large n their output separation is greater than π, despite arbitrarily small input separation. Thus xsinx is not uniformly continuous on R.
