For positive S0,K,T,σ, the Black-Scholes formula uses
d1=σTlog(S0/K)+(r+σ2/2)T,d2=d1−σT.
(1)
To hedge the sold European call option, buy Φ(d1) shares and borrow Ke−rTΦ(d2) in cash. This long replicating strategy has initial value S0Φ(d1)−Ke−rTΦ(d2), financed by the option premium. The share holding must subsequently be rebalanced according to the option's option delta in a self-financing strategy.
