Write I=I2. The Pauli matrix multiplication law gives σiσj+σjσi=2δijI. Block multiplication of the Weyl representation of the gamma matrices gives
(γ0)2=I4,γ0γi=(−σi00σi),γiγ0=(σi00−σi),
(1)
and
γiγj=−(σiσj00σiσj).
(2)
Thus the mixed time-space anticommutators vanish, the time-time anticommutator is 2I4, and the spatial anticommutators are −2δijI4. Together these prove the Clifford algebra identity
{γμ,γν}=2ημνI4.
(3)
The negative spatial sign comes from the lower-left block of each spatial gamma matrix.
