Away from the negative real axis, the complex conjugate has principal complex argument −θ. Consequently
zi+zi=(e−θ+eθ)eilogr=2coshθeilogr.
(1)
Taking the complex modulus gives coshθ=1, hence θ=0. The remaining equation is eilogr=i, so
z=eπ/2+2πk,k∈Z.
(2)
On the negative real axis, both z and z have principal complex argument π, so the left-hand side has modulus 2e−π, not two. There are no additional solutions there. The printed second term is the principal power of z, not the complex conjugate of zi.
