The inverse metric condition is
(ηαρ+kαρ)(ηρβ+hρβ)=δαβ.
(1)
Keeping only terms linear in the metric perturbation gives
kαβ+hαβ=0.
(2)
Thus the linearized inverse metric is
kαβ=−hαβ,gαβ=ηαβ−hαβ+O(ϵ2),
(3)
where indices on hαβ are raised with the Minkowski metric.
