Rewrite the recurrence relation as
an+1=21(an+anc).
(1)
Since a0=1>0 and c>0, a positive an gives a positive an+1. Mathematical induction therefore proves an>0 for all n≥0, and also shows that every division in the recurrence relation is defined.
