Split a rational SLm representation by its finite scalar center: on Wk, ρ(ζI)=ζkI for ζm=1. The displayed extension is independent of the scalar-root choice and is a group homomorphism. A matrix coefficient of ρ∣Wk can be represented on SLm by a sum of homogeneous polynomials Pd with d≡k(modm), by averaging over the scalar center. Its extension is ∑d(detg)(k−d)/mPd(g), a regular function on GLm. Every invariant subspace remains invariant under this extension, so irreducibility is preserved in both directions.
