For antisymmetric Maurer–Cartan forms with dλij=λik∧λkj, let α±=(λ12±λ43,λ23±λ41,λ31±λ42). Direct expansion gives dα1±=−α2±∧α3± and cyclic analogues, with no mixed terms. The dual triples form two commuting ideals, each with the SO(3) Lie algebra brackets. This is a real compact splitting, distinct from the splitting of the complexified algebra into two copies of sl2(C).
