For a first-derivative real scalar field in one space and one time dimension, put jDμ=L∂μψ(zψ′+tψ˙)−xμL. Its on-shell divergence is
∂μjDμ=L∂μψ∂μψ−2L−z∂z∂Lψ,∂ψ−t∂t∂Lψ,∂ψ.

A quadratic derivative density with arbitrary field-dependent coefficients has zero derivative-homogeneity term. An extra term −αψ′4 instead gives −2αψ′4. A position-dependent kinetic coefficient Aρ(z)/2 gives −Azρ′(z)ψ˙2/2. These source terms distinguish scale invariance from internal field-shift symmetry.
