Particle mass conservation gives hc​=[ϕ1​(H−zm​)+ϕ2​zm​]/ϕmax​. Averaging concentration over the entire original container gives ϕˉ​=ϕmax​hc​/H. This average differs from the concentration inside the deposit itself.
