In a proper flat family with a coherent sheaf, the fiber dimension $s\mapsto {\dim }_{\kappa (s)}{H}^p(X_s,{\mathcal{F}}_s)$ is upper semicontinuous, and the fiberwise Euler characteristic is locally constant.
