Integrating galactic stellar mass against a x−7/4e−x mass function requires ∫0∞x−3/4e−xdx. Substitution u=x turns it into 2Γ(1/2)=2π. Thus the stellar density is 2π times characteristic number density times characteristic galactic stellar mass, in the same volume convention as the mass function.
