A perfect fluid with equation of state P=ρ is called a stiff fluid. For positive energy density, its constant equation-of-state parameter is w=1. The cosmological continuity equation gives ρ∝a−6. In a flat universe dominated by this fluid, the Friedmann equation then gives a(t)∝(t−tB)1/3. This statement assumes a nonzero fluid density and negligible other components.
