For the two-dimensional streamfunction convention u=ψz​, w=−ψx​, the advective derivative of θ is uθx​+wθz​=J(ψ,θ). This antisymmetric Jacobian determinant bracket organizes nonlinear interactions in convection and vorticity equations.
