An adiabatic perturbation obeys Δr=(4/3)Δc. In a radiation background this makes the cold-matter density equation Δc′′+Δc′/τ=4Δc/τ2, whose growing solution is τ2. In a matter background it instead becomes Δc′′+2Δc′/τ=6Δc/τ2, with the same growing conformal-time exponent and a different scale-factor dependence.
