A family of phenomena in which an inducer elicits an additional experience or concurrent. Developmental examples often have involuntary, individually stable mappings, but their expression can be internally associated rather than externally projected. Definitions differ in breadth; ordinary multisensory integration, learned associations and unusual developmental concurrents should not be declared equivalent merely because all cross sensory or conceptual categories.
