The dihedral angle measures the angle between two intersecting planes. Molecular torsion angles use an oriented four-atom convention to specify a related signed angle.

For four consecutively bonded atoms A–B–C–D, the torsion angle is the signed dihedral between planes A–B–C and B–C–D. State the viewing and sign convention when comparing projections.
