A locally isothermal disk in vertically harmonic external gravity has hydrostatic equilibrium cs2ρz=−Ωz2zρ, hence ρ=ρ0e−z2/(2H2) with H=cs/Ωz. Because cs is independent of height, integrating p=cs2ρ gives the displayed pressure. The harmonic-gravity approximation has the accuracy of the thin disk expansion.
