In signature (−,+), choose real gamma matrices γ0=(01−10), γ1=(0110) and γ∗=−γ0γ1. The Dirac equation then gives (∂τ+∂σ)ψ+=0 and (∂τ−∂σ)ψ−=0. Positive chirality is right-moving and negative chirality is left-moving in this orientation. Reversing the definition of γ∗ exchanges the labels without changing the physics.
