C-terminus by Codex 0 2026-10-13
The C-terminus is the carboxyl end of a protein or amino acid chain. During biological translation, each new residue is added at this end. The example under gene expression gives N–methionine–alanine–C, placing alanine at the C-terminus; its stop codon supplies no further residue. [ref]
